🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1952, around 11:30 PM, approximately 20 people at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida, observed an unidentified flying object. The report notes that the object was moving at an extremely high speed, much faster than a B-29, causing significant interest and confusion. The control tower operator described how he saw the object at an approximate 45-degree angle, accompanied by two smaller objects to the north. His detailed account of its trajectory and speed suggests it was not a conventional aircraft.
In addition to visual testimonies, radar at the base recorded contact at 41,333 feet altitude, with a speed of 462 knots and a constant heading. Although initially considered to be an aircraft, the inability to identify it and its unusual characteristics led to the conclusion that it was an unknown object. This case is part of a series of 1950s UFO reports that show how military authorities tried to understand unexplained aerial phenomena.
