🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1952, an observer in The Dalles, Oregon, reported an unidentified object at a high altitude. They described a cylindrical or balloon-like shape, transparent and white, resembling a rocket. The object remained stationary for several minutes and was observed with high-powered glasses. The report mentions that the object appeared to have an exhaust-type propulsion system, though no noise was recorded.
Later, the object was circled by a figure identified as a balloon before mysteriously disappearing. Additional witnesses reported vapor streaks and trails suggesting possible disintegration. Four parachutes were said to have fallen near the Adams area, and an instrument was used to measure altitude, though it could not determine whether the object was at 71,070 feet or 7,406 feet. No further aircraft activity was recorded, and no additional information was available at the time.
