🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1952, several airmen at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana observed an aerial phenomenon described as a comet. The object suddenly appeared in the sky, moved rapidly southward, and then abruptly stopped, hovering in place before disappearing. This event occurred on two separate occasions, with similar descriptions of a luminous object behaving unusually. Observers noted that the object did not resemble stars or meteors, and its brightness and size made it stand out clearly in the sky. Although the possibility of a weather balloon was considered, no definitive cause for the phenomenon was confirmed.
The sightings were recorded in official Air Force documents, including detailed descriptions and evaluations of the witnesses. Despite analyzing factors such as weather and the presence of balloons, no clear conclusion about the object's nature was reached. Observers did not hear any sounds or note significant astronomical activity at the time of the sightings. The case remains unresolved, adding an air of mystery to this UFO episode.
