🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1952, an observer in Chico, California, reported an unidentified object that appeared as a bright glowing light moving slowly across the sky. The object was observed for four minutes, and its path was unusual: it first moved north, then south for about two miles, and then returned north. Although the observer did not hear any sound, the object was estimated to be at a very low altitude. The description included details such as the absence of noise and the inability to identify it as a known object like an aircraft or weather balloon.
The official report classified the object as likely a weather balloon, but the data was inconclusive. The officer in charge, 2nd Lt. James W. Westbrook, suggested this explanation based on the observer's description. However, the report did not completely rule out the possibility of an unknown object. The observer, Robert C. Kaysman, provided a detailed and consistent account, which adds interest to the case. Despite the lack of physical evidence or other sightings in the area, the report was archived for further analysis.
