🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1952, a Los Angeles police officer observed an extremely bright object in the sky over Highland Park, California. The officer, who lived in the area, reported the sighting to the air service and used a protractor to estimate the object was between 34 and 38 degrees above the horizon. The object, initially appearing solid, broke into 6 to 8 pieces that rapidly descended toward the ground. The testimony includes precise details about the location, time, and trajectory of the object, making it a notable case among many sightings of the era.
The officer also mentioned another sighting earlier, on the night of August 17, when several neighbors observed a round, bright object that suddenly disappeared. This second sighting was described as silvery and luminous, and all witnesses agreed it was not an airplane. Although no photos or conventional explanations were found, the officer's detailed observations add credibility to this case, which is part of a series of 1950s UFO reports.
