🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A bright red object with a fire trail about a mile long was sighted near Clear Lake, California, in August 1952. The observer, Howell I. Cletus, saw it at around 10,000 feet altitude moving north. Weather conditions were clear with 25 miles visibility. An F-94 jet was sent to the area but found nothing.
Reports ruled out a balloon, aircraft, or astronomical phenomenon. Despite the detailed description, no physical evidence or clear explanation was found. The responsible officer concluded there was no way to identify the object with the available data, making it an unresolved case from the Cold War archives.
