Summary

In August 1952, two military observers at George Air Force Base in California reported sightings of an unidentified object. An Air Force officer observed a bright and round object hovering at high altitude. The object showed no exhaust trail or signs of propulsion, which puzzled the observers. The sighting lasted several minutes, and the officer lost sight of the object while maneuvering.

Meanwhile, a pilot flying an F-51 also reported seeing a similar object, describing it as bright with no exhaust trail. The pilot attempted to approach the object but failed to identify it or gather more information. Weather conditions were ideal (CAVU), and no meteorological phenomena were recorded that could explain the sighting. The reports concluded that the object was neither a balloon nor a known phenomenon, and it was considered an unexplained case.
