In August 1952, a railroad agent in Ain Sefra, near Oran (Algeria), observed a fireball crossing the sky from east to west. It left a luminous pink trail and appeared to grow in size. Suddenly, the object stopped, turned bright red, and seemed to explode, though the witness heard no sound. The description did not match known objects, raising questions about its nature. Although balloon or aircraft possibilities were considered, the lack of noise and unusual behavior made the case intriguing.
The classified report included this sighting in an international context, as a similar case was recorded in Rabat, Morocco, in July 1952. Coordination among different military branches and intelligence agencies reflected concerns about unidentified aerial phenomena. Although no further action was taken, the case was archived as part of a broader effort to document and analyze luminous objects in the sky.
