🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1952, a CAA employee in Alaska reported a yellowish-green object moving along a parabolic path from northwest to southeast. The sighting occurred at an elevation of 25 to 30 degrees above the eastern horizon, with no noise detected. The object appeared to disintegrate 90 degrees away from Umiat. Additionally, a USGS team recorded a sound resembling distant thunder around the same time. The description and lack of noise made the report intriguing, though it was considered possibly a balloon.
The report was classified under Project 10073 and evaluated as possibly a balloon, though the possibility of an unknown object was not ruled out. The description of color and trajectory, along with the account of visible disintegration, added mystery to the case. Despite the lack of photographs or radar data, multiple witnesses and the coincidence of dates and times suggested the event warranted attention. The report was archived without a definitive conclusion, leaving the door open for future investigations.
