🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1952, two U.S. Air Force officers reported an unidentified object over Meridian, Mississippi. While flying P-51 Mustangs at 7,900 feet, they observed a pale green light at around 10,000 feet moving rapidly westward. The object showed no trail, sound, or visible propulsion and vanished within ten seconds. The witnesses, experienced pilots with hundreds of flight hours, found no conventional explanation. The official evaluation concluded it was not a balloon, aircraft, or known astronomical phenomenon, and no attempt was made to intercept it due to its speed and altitude.
The report includes detailed statements from the officers, who noted the object did not resemble the training aircraft in the area. The weather at the time offered no conditions to explain the sighting, and there was no physical evidence. Despite the thorough description and credibility of the witnesses, the official report classifies it as "unknown," reflecting the ambiguity surrounding many sightings of the era. This declassified document remains an unresolved mystery.
