🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1952, a person in Maryland reported an unidentified flying object. The report describes a bright, metallic, and silent object with no visible emissions. It was estimated to be the size of a half-dollar coin and was moving at a considerable altitude. The observer, a civilian woman, had no experience with aircraft or flight principles. The sighting lasted about three minutes, during which the object moved rapidly back and forth before disappearing.
The incident occurred at 14:30, near the observer's residence in Andrews AFB. There was no confirmation from radar or airfield control towers. Weather conditions were clear with good visibility and calm winds. No aerial observations were conducted in the area at that time. The report concludes that the object could not be identified with certainty, and it was considered possibly aerospace-related or a balloon, though other explanations were not ruled out.
