🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1952, a civilian pilot reported a UFO near Allentown, Pennsylvania. The pilot, an Air Force Reserve captain, described a football-shaped object glowing orange-red, moving at high speed. The object suddenly appeared ahead of his plane and seemed to be on a collision course. When the pilot attempted to avoid it, the object abruptly changed direction and climbed steeply, passing over his aircraft. The sighting lasted only two seconds, making it difficult to assess the nature of the object.
Investigators considered several possibilities, including a meteor or a balloon, but the object's sudden maneuver did not fit these theories. The report concluded that the object's nature could not be determined with certainty and was classified as "unknown." This case exemplifies how brief sightings and credible witness accounts can raise unanswered questions, adding to the enigma of UFO history.
