🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1952, a civilian observer in New Mexico reported seeing five grayish lights moving slowly across the sky. Initially thinking it might be a helicopter, she soon realized it wasn't. The lights, arranged in an indistinct pattern, traveled in a straight line for about three minutes, producing a soft "whoosh" sound unlike that of a jet aircraft. The observer noted a grayish background around the lights and ruled out conventional aircraft. Despite investigations into possible explanations like weather balloons or small planes, none matched the description.
The official Air Force report, though containing OCR errors, confirms no aircraft were found in the area matching the sighting. The observer, deemed reliable, provided details inconsistent with known objects. The estimated speed of the objects was slower than a small plane, and their unique trajectory and sound added to the mystery. No interception was attempted due to the delayed report, and the case was filed without a clear resolution.
