🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In October 1952, four officers observed a disc-shaped object with a pinkish-orange color over Keflavik Airport in Iceland. The object appeared suddenly, moved at high speed, and then climbed vertically before disappearing. Despite no visible exhaust or sound, witnesses agreed it was not an aircraft or astronomical phenomenon. The description led to speculation it might be a weather balloon, though none were recorded with that color in the area. The lack of clouds and good visibility made identification even more challenging.
The air base sent the report to several intelligence units, including ATIC, and considered the possibility of a common balloon. However, data on balloon launches in Iceland were limited, creating uncertainty. Although ground control did not register the sighting, the officers agreed on the details, including the object's speed and shape. The case was filed as "possibly a balloon," but the detailed description and witnesses' reactions make it an intriguing report.
