Summary

In October 1952, at Ashiya Air Base in Japan, a radar operator reported the presence of unidentified objects. The objects appeared on the radar screen as if they were light aircraft, with estimated speeds between 50 and 70 mph at altitudes between 200 and 500 feet. Up to five objects were observed simultaneously, moving mainly east and south. Despite the operators having radar experience, they could not clearly identify what they were. There was no visual contact or detectable sounds.

Witnesses, including personnel with several years of radar experience, suggested the objects might be large birds. However, the lack of physical or photographic evidence left the situation unresolved. The official report concluded it was likely the objects were birds, although radar characteristics and weather conditions did not allow for a definitive confirmation. This case is part of a series of UFO reports from the era that reflect uncertainty and the need for further investigation.
