Summary

In October 1952, during the Korean War, two U.S. pilots reported an unidentified aerial object with a perfectly circular shape. The object, a bright silver color, appeared over the battle line and surprised observers by suddenly changing speed and hovering in mid-air. The pilots, experienced in combat missions, observed it for three minutes from a distance of about three miles. Despite its apparent size (approximately 25 feet in diameter), it showed no aerodynamic features or visible signs of propulsion. Its behavior, including a sudden acceleration to 800 miles per hour, raised questions about its nature.

The U.S. Air Force considered several explanations, from captive balloons to unconventional aircraft, but reached no definitive conclusion. The pilots, using sunglasses and unaided vision, agreed the object did not look like a balloon or conventional aircraft. The official report, classified for its sensitivity, reflected uncertainty about the phenomenon, though it suggested the possibility of an enemy balloon. However, the object's behavior did not match the usual, making it an intriguing case in UFO history.
