1952 UFO Sighting in Oklahoma

Summary

In October 1952, a U.S. Air Force pilot and crew aboard a C-47 aircraft observed a bright blue object moving at high speed. The object traveled in a straight line from east to west at 5500 feet altitude and disintegrated into fragments before disappearing. The sighting occurred near Paoli, Oklahoma, and was officially reported. The observers heard no sound and could not determine the exact distance of the object. Despite clear weather conditions, there was no conventional explanation for the phenomenon.

The Air Force considered it possibly astronomical, though other possibilities were not ruled out. The report includes sketches from the witness and a detailed description of the event. This case is part of the many records from Project 10073, which investigated unidentified sightings.
