🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In December 1952, multiple witnesses at Andersen AFB, Guam, reported the sighting of an unidentified aerial object with unusual characteristics. Five airmen and two pilots of a B-17 described it as a cylindrical, silvery object with a bright flame at the rear. The object was traveling at an extremely high speed, estimated to be three to four times faster than a conventional jet, and left no smoke or vapor trail. Observers noted it was not a meteorite due to its straight trajectory and metallic appearance. Despite multiple sightings, no conventional explanation was found for the phenomenon.
The description of the object was consistent among witnesses, including a silver flame trailing the main body. The pilots, experienced in aircraft identification, ruled out the possibility of a conventional aircraft. Although a balloon launch was scheduled near the time of the sighting, the object's description did not match typical balloon characteristics. The official investigation concluded the case remained unresolved, labeled as "Unknown".
