🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In June 1952, an unidentified object was spotted over Lynchburg, Virginia, sparking numerous reports and official interest. A witness with anti-aircraft experience from World War II added credibility to the sighting. The object, described as round and silver, was seen from the ground without an exhaust trail. Despite sending a fighter jet to investigate, nothing was found. A commercial flight from Piedmont Airlines was also in the area but did not report the incident.
The official Project Blue Book report sought conventional explanations, such as weather balloons, but found no conclusive evidence. The case was labeled as unidentified, and witnesses were asked to complete questionnaires to gather more information. This event reflects the confusion and mystery surrounding UFO sightings in the 1950s, as authorities tried to understand unexplained aerial phenomena.
