Summary

In January 1953, a civilian reported a balloon-shaped object slowly descending toward the west. The object was observed for 30 to 40 minutes, with a red light on top and a yellow light on the bottom. Although it appeared unusual, the official conclusion was that it was a balloon. At the time, it was common for high-altitude research balloons to cross the area. The detailed description and duration of the observation led to the official documentation of the event.

The lack of physical evidence or photographs did not prevent the observation from being taken seriously. Researchers at the time considered that balloons could be mistaken for unidentified flying objects, especially due to their slow movement and the lights they emitted. Despite being classified and later downgraded, this case is now considered a classic example of a misidentified balloon.
