Summary

In January 1953, two U.S. Air Force pilots observed four bright objects while flying over California. These objects performed unusual maneuvers, such as double rolls, at an estimated altitude between 12,000 and 15,000 feet. The pilots, experienced in flight, noted that the objects left no smoke trail and did not resemble conventional aircraft. One of them approached rapidly, creating a sense of potential collision, but then unexpectedly retreated. The observation lasted between 4 and 5 minutes, and the pilots reported to authorities, though no further action was taken. The official conclusion pointed to a weather balloon, though this did not fully explain the maneuvers observed.

The objects were seen from an altitude of 8,000 feet, and the pilots described their movement as erratic, without a clear pattern.
