Red and white UFO seen over Davenport, Iowa

Summary

In January 1953, an Iowa state trooper observed a red and white glowing object hovering over Davenport. The witness described a light ball that changed colors and accelerated to incredible speeds before vanishing. Despite attempts to approach it, he couldn't intercept it. The Air Force classified it as an astronomical phenomenon, but the officer who reviewed the report suggested it wasn't a common celestial body.

The report details that the object left no trail, made no noise, and behaved unpredictably. The witness, experienced in aircraft identification, took precautions to rule out optical illusions.
