Summary

In February 1953, an F-94 interceptor was alerted by radar to an unidentified object near Okinawa. The pilot and observer reported seeing a bright orange object that changed to red and green. Despite chasing it for 15 minutes, they couldn't catch up. Ground radar detected it as a false target, suggesting it wasn't a conventional aircraft. The object disappeared at high speed, leaving the observers without clear answers.

The Okinawa base concluded it was likely Venus, which was 10 degrees above the horizon at that time of year. However, ground radar showed a false target, complicating the identification. While Venus could explain the visual sighting, the radar suggested something else was happening. The lack of photos or physical evidence left the mystery unresolved, but a plausible astronomical explanation was offered.
