🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
An unidentified object was visually observed and detected by radar in Port Austin, Michigan, on February 17, 1953. Personnel from the 754th Aircraft Control and Warning (AC&W) Squadron reported an object continuously changing color between red and white, visible for five minutes. Despite moving slowly southward, radar tracked it for 17 minutes in the same direction. This report stands out due to the simultaneous visual and radar observations, an unusual and hard-to-explain phenomenon. Investigators ruled out conventional explanations like weather balloons or aircraft, and no physical evidence was found. The report was considered significant by the Air Technical Intelligence Center (ATIC), though no definitive conclusion was reached.
