Summary

A 62-year-old mining engineer observed a bright object in the sky over Pasadena on February 27, 1952. The object remained stationary for two hours, changing color from bright to reddish before fading out. The witness viewed it from his truck and used terrestrial references to estimate its position. Initially thought to be a star, he noticed it didn't behave like one. The official report concluded it was likely a star or planet, but the witness insisted it was too large and bright for a conventional explanation.

No physical evidence or photographs were found, and the witness couldn't accurately estimate distance or speed. He described the object as very high, around 40,000-50,000 feet, and 50-100 meters in diameter. Despite his experience with weather balloons, he couldn't identify it with anything known. The case was classified as a probable star or planet, but the account suggests a puzzling experience that didn't fit conventional explanations.
