🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1953, a witness in Sheaves Cove, Newfoundland, observed a luminous object moving at low altitude at high speed. It was described as a light resembling a light bulb, about 6 inches long, which illuminated the area and dimmed the lantern they were carrying. Initially considered a meteor, the description suggested an aerial nature. The report mentions a similar sighting in April, with a woman who saw a bright light over her barn. Both cases were investigated by the 2nd OSI Detachment, but no physical evidence or photographs were found.
The investigation concluded there were no astronomers in the area to confirm astronomical activity, and the witnesses were untrained individuals. Despite multiple sightings, there was no radar contact or flight plan records. Investigators considered it could be a meteor or an aircraft with visible lights, but no definitive conclusion was reached.
