Summary

In April 1953, a U.S. Air Force officer in San Juan, Puerto Rico, reported a bright object in the sky that sparked curiosity and discussion. Several witnesses described it as a "bright star", "ball of fire", or "white light" moving rapidly from north to south. The object, seen at a high altitude, emitted sparks and displayed a wavy or spinning motion. Although initially intriguing, the investigation concluded it was likely a weather balloon. According to the report, the observers may have lacked the experience to correctly identify the object, and the sparks could have been sunlight reflecting off instruments on the balloon. Despite this explanation, the multiple testimonies and detailed description of the event keep a sense of mystery.
