Summary

In April 1953, a radar operator at Torbay Airport in Newfoundland spotted an object approaching on a magnetic course of 270 degrees. The observer initially thought it was a B-29, but upon looking outside, he saw only a shadow without visible markings. The object made a 180-degree turn 9 miles west of the airport and disappeared from radar 70 miles away. Despite the observer's experience, the object remained unidentified.

A subsequent investigation found no correlations with known flights, though a C-97 or even a Soviet TU-4 were considered. Analysts concluded it was more likely a friendly aircraft. Despite doubts, the official report classified it as a conventional plane. The case remains intriguing due to the lack of clear answers.
