SILVER DISC SHAPED UFO SEEN IN EAST ST LOUIS

Summary

A silver-colored disc-shaped object with a small dome on top was observed over East St Louis in May 1953. Civilian witnesses reported the object hovering for a few seconds before accelerating rapidly toward the northeast. Although details such as its size and two exhaust systems were mentioned, the lack of precise information on the duration and exact time of the sighting limited official evaluation.

The report, initially classified as restricted, was declassified after 12 years. Despite considering the possibility of a twilight jet, the object could not be identified with certainty. This case, like many others, reflects the ambiguity surrounding UFO sightings in the 1950s.
