In May 1953, two gold miners in Brush Creek, California, reported seeing an unidentified flying object landing near their mining site. According to their account, the object was saucer-shaped, about seven feet in diameter and four feet thick, made of a shiny metallic material. Each time it landed, a small man, around four feet tall, exited the craft, carried a bucket to collect water from the creek, and then returned to the ship. The miners, John Q. Black and John Van Allen, claimed the object had appeared on May 20 and June 20, and predicted it would return on July 20.
