Summary

In May 1953, five airmen at the Ramore Air Base in Ontario reported the sighting of an unidentified object. The incident occurred around 04:15 AM when Dean McDonald, Vittorio Settimi, Paul Ryan, Thomas De Stefano, and Thomas Sfinas were returning to base from Kirkland Lake. While approaching the base, they noticed an orange-colored object moving toward the hill. They immediately stopped to observe it. The object, initially about 20-30 miles away, slowly approached the base area and then moved eastward. As the observers ascended the hill, the object quickly moved southeast at an estimated speed of 1500 miles per hour, disappearing into the clouds. According to the witnesses, the object made no noise and left a small indentation in the cloud cover as it ascended. Official reports found no explanation for the phenomenon, and all observers agreed it was not an aircraft, star, or known meteorological event.

The official report details that the observers, all considered reliable and sober, described the object as a clear orange ball with a defined shape, larger than a star. The object was observed for about 20 minutes, and although attempts were made to photograph it, no physical or photographic evidence was obtained. The air base recorded no aerial activity in the area at that time, and no interception was attempted. The report concludes with no clear explanation for the phenomenon and was filed without resolution.
