🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
An Air Force ROTC cadet observed a bright object in Detroit in 1953. On June 10, 1953, at 23:10, cadet Robert Alvey saw a white or light yellow, round object larger than a star. The object moved in a falling arc from the west, then leveled off and sped northward, disappearing over the horizon. It left no trail or sound, causing confusion. Investigations ruled out a weather balloon or commercial aircraft, but no clear explanation was found.
The sighting was detailed and the witness was experienced with aircraft. The Air Force consulted observatories and air traffic control, but no conclusive answers emerged. Hynek, project director, considered it might be a landing light, though it didn't explain all details. The case remains unsolved, like many from that era.
