🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1953, two observers at Shaw AFB, South Carolina, reported three unidentified flying objects. Two were circular in shape, one larger than the other, and the third was a streak of light resembling a vapor trail. The largest object emitted a bright, intense glow, initially mistaken for an aircraft landing light. The observers saw the objects for two hours, from midnight to 2 a.m. The largest object first appeared at tree-top height, bobbed slightly, and then rapidly ascended to an unknown altitude. The other objects were in different directions, one to the northeast and another to the northwest, without leaving any smoke or sound.
Although the possibility of astronomical objects like Venus or Jupiter was considered, the observers agreed they were not stars or planets. Their detailed and consistent descriptions suggest a genuine observation, though no physical or photographic evidence was found. The report concluded that the objects could not be attributed to known natural phenomena, but they could not be identified with certainty.
