Summary

In July 1953, two civilians in Middletown, New York, reported a silent and fast unidentified flying object. The object appeared at a distance of 3 to 5 miles, with an aluminum-colored body and black wings. When banking in the sun, it reflected intense light, resembling a tailless comet. Despite its considerable size, it emitted no noise, which surprised the witnesses. One of them compared its shape to a diesel locomotive engine, suggesting a bulky and wingless silhouette. The object performed complex maneuvers, including a vertical ascent followed by a rapid eastward movement, disappearing from view in seconds.

The description of the object coincided with that of a maneuvering aircraft, according to the Air Force analysis. However, its noiselessness and unusual speed raised doubts. The witnesses, middle-aged and trustworthy, had not reported the sighting earlier due to fear of being ridiculed. Eventually, after reflecting on the incident and seeing others had also noticed it, they decided to contact authorities. Although no photos were taken and no physical evidence was found, the detailed testimonies and precise descriptions add credibility to the report. This case reflects the complexity of UFO sightings, where the ordinary and the extraordinary intertwine.
