🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1953, an unidentified object was observed for about seven seconds by a pilot and a ground officer at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina. The phenomenon was described as bright, with a defined shape and moving eastward. Although a meteorological explanation was considered, no physical evidence was found to confirm the nature of the object. The report requested additional testimonies and data from local astronomers, but no definitive conclusion was reached.
The pilot, in an F-30 aircraft, described the object as elliptical, orange in color, with no visible smoke or details, moving at an estimated speed of 300 knots toward the northeast. A ground officer observed it simultaneously, adding credibility to the account. However, the object disappeared behind a cloud layer and was not intercepted, leaving no physical trace. Despite the simultaneous witness and detailed description, the report could not conclusively identify the phenomenon, leaving open the possibility of a natural or unknown explanation.
