Summary

In July 1953, a U.S. Navy officer in Key West observed an unusual aerial phenomenon that generated an official report and a series of unanswered questions. The object, described as a bright white point of light, moved erratically, making sharp zigzags and smooth circles at high speed. Unlike any known aircraft or balloon, it showed no visible trail, exhaust, or propulsion system. Despite the observer being considered reliable and responsible, he could not identify the object as anything conventional. Although weather conditions did not rule out earthly explanations, no physical evidence or air traffic records were found.

The sighting occurred on a clear, moonless night, and the witness saw two distinct objects. While the first moved rapidly and without a defined pattern, the second remained static and faint. The officer observed the phenomenon from a car in Key West harbor, and other witnesses confirmed the presence of the objects. Although the official report suggested it could be a flashlight on an aircraft, it did not rule out other possibilities. The lack of a clear explanation and the unusual nature of the object's movement made the case one of many in the history of unidentified sightings.
