🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1953, multiple civilian and military observers in the Rapid City and Blackhawk, South Dakota area reported an unusual aerial phenomenon. A red object was seen making erratic and sudden movements and was observed for several hours. Witnesses included both military and civilian personnel, and air intercepts as well as radar tracking were conducted. Despite efforts, the object could not be identified. Photos were taken but were not useful due to errors in capturing them. A second similar object was reported later. The investigation concluded there was no clear explanation, and hypotheses such as aircraft, balloons, or stars were dismissed. Witnesses were considered reliable, and the collected data did not allow for a definitive resolution.
