🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In August 1953, a U.S. Air Force officer observed an unusual object near the runway at Oxnard Air Force Base in California. The report describes a yellowish-white light moving horizontally at high speed, with no sound detected. The witness estimated its speed at around 500 knots, slightly faster than the landing aircraft. The light vanished suddenly without a trace. Although it was considered a possible meteor or aircraft, the unusual behavior and complete silence raised doubts.
The report also mentions additional sightings by civilians and military personnel near the coast, who observed white and red lights. These witnesses, including engineers and radar observers, all confirmed the absence of sound or propulsion. Despite ruling out conventional explanations, the official report concluded it could be an astronomical event. However, the unusual nature of the sightings and the reliability of the witnesses suggest the case remains unresolved.
