🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1953, a U.S. Air Force pilot reported an unidentified object detected on the radar scope of his F-94C aircraft. The incident occurred near Palmdale, California, and was observed for 15 seconds. The object was estimated to be moving at 2000 knots, far exceeding the capabilities of conventional aircraft at the time. The pilot switched from automatic to manual radar control, but the object disappeared before an intercept could be attempted.
Another F-94C aircraft had previously detected a similar object six minutes earlier. This second sighting lasted only 6 seconds, and the object was described as round and orange in color. Despite both aircraft being in the same area and at similar altitudes, there was no direct visual confirmation. Weather conditions were clear with slight haze at low levels, which did not explain the object's sudden disappearance. The official conclusion was "unidentified," as there was insufficient data to determine its nature.
