Summary

In October 1953, a 24-year-old woman and her husband in Capitol Heights, Maryland, observed two bright objects in the sky. They described each as three times the size of an average star, round in shape, and white in color, similar to a small grapefruit. The objects appeared side by side, about 50 feet apart, and moved southward without leaving a trail, exhaust, glow, or sound. The witness, an employee of the USAF, saw them for about 30 seconds in the dark, with the sun behind her.

The official conclusion suggested the objects were two high-flying jet aircraft with solar reflections. However, the report didn't mention the witness's reliability or offer alternative explanations. The case was classified and declassified decades later as part of U.S. defense archives. Although no photos were taken and no physical examination was done, the testimony was recorded by a USAF officer. Weather conditions in the area indicated perfect visibility at the time.
