In October 1953, a civilian at Sampson AFB, New York, reported seeing a bright, silver, circular object. According to the account, the object emitted a loud, continuous roaring sound as it moved westward. The witness, upon spotting the object, ran to alert her neighbor, but by the time they returned outside, the object had vanished, though the sound continued for several more minutes. Later, her nine-year-old daughter also reported seeing a silver disc, though with a different perceived size.
