Summary

In October 1953, a civilian at Sampson AFB, New York, reported seeing a bright, silver, circular object. According to the account, the object emitted a loud, continuous roaring sound as it moved westward. The witness, upon spotting the object, ran to alert her neighbor, but by the time they returned outside, the object had vanished, though the sound continued for several more minutes. Later, her nine-year-old daughter also reported seeing a silver disc, though with a different perceived size.

The Air Force concluded the object was likely an aircraft, with an exaggerated description from the witnesses. The first observation occurred at 11:20 and the second at 11:43, both without physical evidence or photographs. The witnesses' reliability was considered questionable, especially the child's. Weather conditions were hazy with 10 miles visibility, which could have influenced the perception. Despite the lack of physical confirmation, the account reflects a striking experience for those involved.
