Triangular UFO sighted in Maine in 1953

Summary

In October 1953, a student in Mapleton, Maine, observed three unidentified flying objects for one hour. Two of them emitted a dark green glow that changed to white with a green-blue fringe, while moving north with occasional triangular deviations. A third object, with a bright blue trail, followed them. Observers used high-powered binoculars and took eleven theodolite readings before the objects suddenly disappeared. The Air Force could not identify them.

The report details that the objects moved at an elevation of 80 degrees, changing their azimuth from 120 to 90 degrees in an hour. The general direction was south to north, with erratic movements. Despite military efforts, including the release of a weather balloon to measure wind speed, no explanation was found for the phenomenon. The report concluded the cause of the sighting was unknown.
