🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1953, a firefighter in Panama City, Florida, observed an unidentified flying object that caught his attention with a bright reflection. The object, described as a large flat metallic tank, approached from the north, hovered over the station, circled around, and then ascended vertically before disappearing. Despite the observer not using optical aids, the report details the precise trajectory and the observation time, which lasted about five minutes. The report also notes there was no physical evidence or interception by air forces, adding a touch of mystery to this case.
The observer, an assistant fire chief, stated he had always been skeptical about UFOs but changed his mind after this experience. Although the report acknowledges he was not good at judging distances and altitudes, his testimony was considered serious and sincere. The official report concludes that, given the number of aircraft in the area and the lack of physical evidence, the object was likely a local aircraft, though other explanations are not ruled out.
