🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1953, a U.S. Air Force pilot reported a bright flash near Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico. According to the report, a sudden burst of light illuminated the cockpit, canopy, and wings of the aircraft. The pilot described the flash as similar to lightning or an anti-aircraft explosion. The object appeared suddenly and vanished within a second, leaving no trace. Although a meteor was considered as a possible cause, the report did not reach a definitive conclusion.
The report includes meteorological details such as clear skies, bright moonlight, and moderate winds. The pilot, an experienced Air Force officer, described the observation as solid and reliable. Despite the suggestion that it could have been a meteor entering the atmosphere, the phenomenon did not fully match typical descriptions of such events. The report was classified and sent to several air intelligence units for analysis, but no conclusive explanation was reached.
