🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In November 1953, a U.S. Air Force pilot observed a blueish light near Keflavik Airport in Iceland. The incident occurred as the C-47 was climbing, and the pilot described a light moving east at high speed, ascending from 1,000 to 5,000 feet before disappearing. The observation lasted seven seconds, and the pilot, experienced in jet aircraft, could not identify it as a celestial body or conventional aircraft.
The co-pilot confirmed the sighting, though only for a brief moment. Weather conditions were clear, with no weather balloons or radar activity reported in the area. Despite investigations, no physical evidence or additional records explained the phenomenon. Ultimately, it was concluded to be possibly an astronomical or meteorological event, though the pilot did not agree with that assessment.
