Summary

In December 1953, a civilian in Columbus, Indiana, witnessed an unusual aerial phenomenon that left many puzzled. The observer described an object shaped like a white, gaseous ring of smoke, slowly rotating clockwise. This object had no visible upper or lower structure and moved with remarkable precision. The sighting lasted between three and four minutes, and the observer, who was reluctant to estimate size, simply described it as "large." The object hovered steadily before disappearing with incredible speed, leaving no audible or physical trace.

The description included four bright, evenly spaced points of light that appeared to be the source of the surrounding white cloud. The observer, a 60-year-old pharmacist and owner of a drugstore, was described as honest and straightforward, lending credibility to his account. Despite multiple reviews by officers and observers, no conclusive evaluation was possible due to the lack of physical or photographic evidence. The report was shared with several air and intelligence units, but the nature of the object remained unresolved.
