🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1954, a witness in Omaha, Nebraska, observed a green object with an orange-red tail moving in a straight line for a few seconds. The report classifies the event as an astronomical meteor, though there are no records from local astronomers or radar confirming its existence. The witness, a civilian, described the object as bright and oval-shaped, similar to a football.
The sighting occurred from a car, without optical aid, and other passengers also saw it. Although the official report considers it a meteor, the lack of additional data and the event's speed generated some uncertainty. The report concludes that there is no evidence the object was a balloon, an aircraft, or any other known phenomenon, leaving open the possibility of an unusual astronomical event.
