🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In January 1954, a witness in Oscoda, Michigan, reported a red, spherical object with sparks and a double contrail. The object appeared suddenly, outlined clouds in a brilliant flash, and vanished within seconds. Despite the detailed account, investigators concluded it was an astronomical meteor. The sighting was made with the naked eye and without optical aids, yet the observer was deemed reliable. The contrail persisted for 13 minutes, initially causing some confusion.
The report includes weather conditions and the exact location of the event. Although other personnel mentioned vapor trails at dawn, these did not match the main object's description. Preliminary analysis failed to identify the object with certainty, but natural explanations were favored. The official report classified it as a meteor, closing the case without further investigation. However, the object's description and behavior remain intriguing to UFO researchers.
