🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In February 1954, an observer in Bridgeport, Connecticut, reported a bright, silvery, half-sphere object in the sky. The sighting lasted 21 minutes and the object showed no erratic movements, eventually disappearing behind clouds. The observation started at an initial elevation of 30 degrees and ended at 20 degrees. Although no photos were taken, numerous routine phone calls were made. The report concluded that the object was likely a balloon.
The description of the object and the duration of the sighting led investigators to consider it as a balloon, which fit the observed characteristics. Despite the lack of photographic evidence, the single witness's testimony and available weather data supported this conclusion. This case is another example of how UFO reports often resolve with conventional explanations, although they retain an air of mystery.
