🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A bright, round object was sighted at Keesler AFB, Mississippi, during the early hours of February 27, 1954. Three military personnel observed it simultaneously from different points on the base, describing it as a glowing, incandescent object moving in a straight path from south to north. The object was visible for five seconds before splitting and vanishing. Despite its unusual appearance, investigators concluded it was likely a meteor entering the atmosphere.
This case is part of a series of bright sky observations in 1954, including another meteor seen by a ship in the South Atlantic. Although many sightings at the time were deemed "insufficient for evaluation," this case was classified as an astronomical event. No additional data or photos were recorded, limiting further analysis.
